This is the Plasma Tweeter from Acapella. This tweeter is build up to now. In 2001 the price on the Acapella Hompepage was about 2500 US $. The picture shows a inside view. Like the other german plasma tweeters we find the self oscillating circuit with the PL519. The tweeter is divided in 3 sections. The power supply, the RF section and the AF and control section.

Acapella ION TW 1S (Ionenhochtöner) 

Die Schallwandlung erfolgt bei diesem Hochtonsystem durch eine pulsierende Flamme (ionisierte Luft), völlig ohne Masseträgheit. Verzerrungen, wie sie durch Massenträgheit einer Kalotte, oder durch deren Eigenschwingung hervorgerufen werden existieren somit nicht. Da das Horn als Katalysator wirkt findet kein Ozonaustritt statt. Die Hochtoneinheit verfügt über einen integrierten Class A-Verstärker. Durch seine variable Eingangsstufe (änderbare Frequenzweiche und Pegelanpassung) kann der Ionenhochtöner mit allen Lautsprechern betrieben werden. Der Startvorgang erfolgt wahlweise automatisch oder durch manuelles Einschalten.
